The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada celebrates a remarkable milestone as our Executive Director, Catherine MacKeil, marks ten years of service with WICC.
Over the past decade, Cath has brought to this role a deep commitment to the mission and ministry of WICC, together with a vision for what is possible when women of faith come together in prayer and put that prayer into action. Her leadership has helped WICC grow, adapt, and look confidently toward the future while remaining firmly rooted in its rich ecumenical heritage.
Cath’s gift for leadership has been evident in the way she has guided the organization through times of opportunity and challenge. She has encouraged new ideas, embraced innovation, strengthened relationships, and continually sought ways to make the work of WICC more meaningful and accessible to women and communities across Canada and around the world.
Perhaps no period demonstrated her leadership more clearly than the COVID-19 pandemic. In a time of tremendous uncertainty, when familiar ways of gathering, worshipping, and connecting were suddenly disrupted, she led with exceptional insight, creativity, and calm determination. She helped WICC navigate uncharted waters while keeping its mission alive and reminding us that prayer and action are needed most when the way forward is unclear.
However, leadership is about more than programs and accomplishments. It is about people. Over these ten years, Cath has invested in relationships, listened to diverse voices, encouraged volunteers, and inspired others to believe that their contribution matters. Her steadfast commitment has been a source of strength to the Board, staff, volunteers, and the many women who are part of the WICC family.
As we celebrate this important anniversary, we give thanks for Cath’s wisdom, courage, creativity, and unwavering dedication. We celebrate the many ways she has helped shape WICC and prepare it for the future.
