With grateful hearts, we announce that a Canadian organization, endorsed by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada, was the recipient of an International FLC grant.
Name of Project: After the School Bell Food Program
Purpose of the Project: This project will respectfully promote the health of Indigenous school children by providing food for the weekend when needed, and if they are not already receiving food from a breakfast or lunch program.

Work of the Cumberland County Food Program:
The After the School Bell Food Program works to respectfully provide food for school-aged children in Cumberland County which includes the M’Kmaq Indigenous community.
This program is a volunteer-driven organization that works together with other community agencies who strive to provide food security for vulnerable populations in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada. This program for children’s health strives to be available to every student and family that is struggling. The program wants every child to have the opportunity to succeed in school and understand the need for food to be successful.
