Creating the WDP service video is a labour of love, prayerful action … and layers.
First, WICC receives the service from the international committee almost a year in advance.
Then, WICC staff edits for grammar and pacing.
The Board-approved service is then turned into a script for a 55-minute service. Notes are inserted about sets, scene transitions and supporting graphics.
Once these pieces are in place, the script is sent to the volunteer readers for practice, and the videographer so that a reading screen will be ready for taping and camera angles can be determined.
On August 6, 2026, WICC staff and patient volunteers arranged the set pieces and costumes at the historic St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Lindsay, ON. Then, with a script in hand, Cath and Caroline directed the taping as the closed captions rolled, cameras recorded and volunteers from across Ontario took turns gallantly and graciously speaking the words and singing the songs prayerfully written and composed several years ago by WDPIC.
Over the summer, the videographer has spent time editing the “takes” into a smooth copy. Now, additional graphics, clips and credits are being added.
