Dear Friends,
Thank you for being part of the Fellowship of the Least Coin (FLC). Many of you have been faithful in prayer and gathering coins for several years. Perhaps some of you remember when the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada became the Canadian representative in this international movement in 1968.
At the June 2025 WICC Board of Directors meeting, we carefully reviewed our programs and partnerships. One key concern identified was that continuing to collect and transfer donations for FLC could put WICC’s charitable status at risk under Canadian law.
According to the Canada Revenue Agency, Canadian charities must retain direction and control over how donated funds are spent. While we know that the Fellowship of the Least Coin uses funds for charitable purposes, WICC does not have the legal authority to direct or oversee how the international FLC committee spends those resources.
Therefore, as of August 31, 2025 (end of our fiscal year), WICC will no longer be collecting donations for FLC and sharing FLC resources. Those wishing to access information are asked to use the FLC website directly: https://www.fellowshipoftheleastcoin.org/
We are deeply grateful for your past support of FLC through WICC, and we trust you understand that this decision was made with careful consideration of our responsibilities to Canadian donors. Our World Day of Prayer (WDP) grant programs will continue as usual, and we invite you to keep supporting these initiatives that address social injustice affecting women and families in Canada and around the world.
Going forward, any FLC funds submitted to WICC will be redirected towards WDP project grants.
If you have any questions, please send these to wicc@wicc.org. Thank you for standing with us in prayer and action for justice, peace, and reconciliation.
